
Crafted fibres
Dr. Chewang Norbu Bhutia, a young entrepreneur from Nagi, Namthang who is the founder of the start-up called “Crafted Fibers” called on Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur at Raj Bhavan today.
During the meeting, Dr. Chewang briefed the Hon’ble Governor on various developmental initiatives being undertaken by Crafted Fibers.
He mentioned that Crafted Fibers is focused on creating maximum employment opportunities for the youth and women to support the country’s efforts to become self-reliant by adopting indigenous products.
Dr. Bhutia informed that he has recently expanded its operation unit at Nagi, thereby playing a vital role in generating employment opportunities and empowering local youth and women towards sustainable and self-reliant livelihoods. He mentioned that the number of looms at the production unit had already been increased and emphasized the need for additional looms to further strengthen the organization’s production capacity and market reach.
Also, Dr. Bhutia also presented a report on his recent visit to the United States, where he showcased Crafted Fibers products on an international platform. The products received wide appreciation, earning global recognition for the rich cultural and traditional heritage of Sikkim.
The Hon’ble Governor lauded the enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit of local youth and commended his remarkable contribution to the social and economic development of the State fostering entrepreneurship, building self-reliance, and generating meaningful employment at the grassroots level. He also enquired about the future plans and assured all possible support from Raj Bhavan.
